Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ/Authority Scholarships

Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ Authority Scholarships are offered by the BC Ministry of Education to recognize graduating BC students for excellence in their chosen areas of interest and strength. The scholarships are intended to help students pursue post-secondary education.

The Ministry will allocate 5500 awards distributed across school districts and independent school authorities that recognize graduating BC students for excellence in their chosen areas of interest or strength. The award is a $1250 voucher that can be used toward post-secondary education tuition.

Eligibility

To earn a scholarship, students must apply and:

1. Meet the

2. Meet criteria determined by the local scholarship committee, which requires a student to demonstrate outstanding achievement in any ONE of the following areas:

  • Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies: Business, Home Economics, Media Arts, Technology, Tourism
  • Community Service (Volunteer Activity): Includes awareness of local, global, and cultural issues
  • Fine Arts: Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Arts
  • Indigenous Languages and Culture: Demonstrated at school or in the community
  • Languages: External Assessments or Languages Curriculum, including AP and IB courses
  • Physical Activity (and Health): Athletics, Dance, Gymnastics
  • Technical and Trades Training: Coding, Culinary Arts, Mechanics, Robotics, Woodwork
    (e.g. Carpentry, Automotive, Woodwork, Mechanics, Cook Training)

3.   Fulfill the B.C. graduation requirements of either the

To claim Ä¢¹½¶ÌÊÓƵ No.8 (Kootenay Lake) scholarship awards email a letter of request to scholarships@sd8.bc.ca  and include a program acceptance letter at post-secondary school, a copy of your award letter, tuition receipts and a social insurance number (If you prefer you can submit your SIN through confidential voice mail by calling 250-505-7056).

New Pisapio! First year post-secondary scholarship opportunity! 

And as many as thirty-five scholarships are awarded annually, ranging from $500 to $2500.  Awards are paid directly to the university, subject to confirmation of the recipient’s registration as a full-time student at the university.  Your university will distribute the funds directly to you.  Candidates may be awarded a maximum of three scholarships during the course of their first undergraduate degree.
